Web Designs with Beautiful Typography

DesignInstruct: 30 Web Designs with Beautiful Typography

It only seems like this time last year when everyone’s site was covered in swooshes, swirls and flourishes. How quickly times change. Thankfully.

You don’t have to look hard to see how prominent typography in web design has become over recent months. The sweeping, organic patterns that seemed to adorn nearly all creative sites have been swept aside in favour of focus on simple type based sites. I for one am very glad to see this happen, as it much more than just a shift is aesthetic trend – it’s testament to web designers becoming more focused on communication. Gone is the decoration or decoration’s sake, and instead digital producers are looking at how best to deliver core messages. I think partially this trend could be the product of the emergence of the user focused web 2.0 application style sites. Sites such as Mailchimp and Vimeo showed how great user experience can be attained by stripping away extraneous decoration and content. Their focus on user journeys was so effective it was difficult to ignore. Whatever the reason, let us all celebrate: The vector flourish is dead, long live the type!
